Garden Endeavors

The WEED WRENCH

DISCLAIMER: I have no personal financial or otherwise interest in this product. My opinion is entirely my own based on my personal experience with the product.

If you take gardening seriously and have problems dealing with woody weeds, such as small oak, maple, or what have you, trees that you fail to notice until they are too big and deeply rooted to pull by hand, you probably have purchased in the past one of those wimpy little weeders sold at Home Depot, etc, only to have to result to using your sharpshooter shovel to dig up the offending plant. Several years ago, I saw an article on the WWW about removal of invasive species of woody plants, and was interested in a tool developed especially for this purpose. I knew I had to eventually had get one. Finally, in 2004, I got my weed wrench. For $130 plus a hefty shipping charge, my new tool arrived (I had opted for the 43" "light"model). I have never been disappointed with it. It is worth several times what I paid. The only "con" I can think of would be for petit ladies who might have trouble carrying the "light" tool around the yard since it weighs about 12 pounds (Think two 5 pound bags of sugar plus some). Here is a picture of mine:
